After I Win Review

by Kat on November 23, 2009

After I win

If you loved My Paranoid Next Door Neighbor than you will most certainly enjoy After I Win. All I can say is that this book is filled with tons of fun and laughter! Oh… and how can I forget CUTE BOYS!!!

Nakatani and Kasumi demonstrate a different take on the normal Uke and Seme roles, here both boys want to be Uke. This is the foundation for some Yaoi fun. The Sex is most def steamy but it’s not explicit art. So if you’re looking for some hardcore Yaoi, this is not the one for you. But still keep this Yaoi in mind for it provides immense entertainment for it’s so sweet and kawaii. ^^

Gentle Cage Review

by Kat on November 10, 2009

Gentle CageA must read for any Yaoi lover, a classic Yaoi that is well written and developed. The plot surrounds art lovers Tokiwa Masatsugu and Itsuki Hashimoto. Once very close friends that shared their love of art. Sadly family circumstances caused them to lose their friendship and no longer be in each others lives.

Itsuki  goes on to become a personal assistant to the older artist Yamabe; his job includes being the masters human pet. Yamabe becomes sick and fate plays a role in reuniting the long lost friends. Tokiwa gains all of Yamabe’s possessions, this of course includes Itsuki.

If you don’t like rape scenes in Yaoi than you may not care for this Yaoi. After receiving full ownership of Itsuki, Tokiwa takes advantage of this and makes Itsuki summit to his sexual desire. Weird and twisted in my opinion considering the injury, but all in all quite interesting to read.

Itsuki’s doll image is completely shredded yet Tokiwa manages to treat Itsuki as if he were a mere object; just a broken doll.

A feeling of love soon takes over Itsuki’s mind and body. During all the non-consensual sex, Itsuki starts to develop feelings towards Tokiwa and his body, begins to crave the very touch of him.

The characters are development greatly. Tokiwa’s displays a true Seme with his beastly outburst and Itsuki displays the normal shy and submissive Uke.

There are quite a few sex scenes some of them by force, but if you look past that it’s a great Yaoi read that is sure to be read more than once.

Lover’s Flat Review

by Zoei on October 29, 2009

Lover's FlatWonderful Yaoi that deals mainly with  character development between one another, rather than hot steamy sex scenes; that said I enjoyed reading this Yaoi. It’s sweet and a lovely mix to my normal Yaoi reading, it makes me happy and leaves me in lovey dovey mood.

Kouno lives in his small studio apartment by himself and his friend Natsu makes frequent visits  and the two friends engage in a friends with benefits relationship and have mindless sex with no emotional ties, but this of course all changes when Kouno begins to fall in love with Natsu. Greatly done how you see the progression of the relationship turn towards a true committed connection.

The neighbors next door to Kouno are Naomichi and Kei;childhood friends. They too have a appealing relationship. Kei has suddenly confessed his love for Naomichi, this scares Naomichi and leaves him confused. What is a guy to do, but ask for the advice of Kouno of course.

The artwork is good. Not a lot of graphic scenes in this one, by this I mean no below the belt shots. Hyouta Fujiyama does a great job with her use of angles and shading but an even better job with the use of the guys facial expressions during intimate situations.  Ahhhh, Yummy looks that will kill for sure!

All in all, a superb Yaoi that is sure to put a smile on your face Smile

Ruff Love Review

by Zoei on October 6, 2009

Ruff Love is an adorable Yaoi story that is sure to leave you in a very cheerful mood.
Taketora  is a nice lonely guy who writes, but his stories happen to lack any emotions. One day he finds Shiba; a dog who used to be Taketora’s grandfathers dog in his backyard. Shiba is seen in the form of a human with cute doggy ears and a tail. Shiba happens to be clumsy and often gets in trouble. To make up for the trouble he repays for it in the bedroom. You will also be introduced to Akatsuki , a black fierce dog reincarnated as a gloomy human. The three of them mixed together adds great fun, comedy, and uber cute tail about puppy love!

Ruff LoveThe art work is striking and you will just fall in love with each character. One semi-negative thing about Ruff Love is the storyline; it reminded me a bit of Kazusa Takashima’s Man’s Best Friend…but hey than again what’s so wrong with that?

The Crimson Spell Review

by Zoei on October 1, 2009

The Crimson SpellIf you love magic spells and monster plus some steamy hot Yaoi scenes, than you’ll love The Crimson Spell! Ayano Yamane delivers another wonderful display of artwork in this series, all the men are drop dead gorgeous and to make things better the storyline is very well developed.

It all begins when Prince Bald is cursed by his crimson sword. He seeks out the help of a magician named Havi to find a cure to break this curse. Havi’s in return wants a magical item before he will try to remove this curse, as payment.

They embark upon their journey and we see the relationship growing closer and on so very intimate. Prince Bald’s curse turns him into a monster, that needs some satisfying; the only two options are though bloodshed or…you know some sexual  fulfillment with, who else but Havi. Havi sure knows how to tame this wild beast but once the beast reverts back to Prince Bald, Bald has no knowledge of the acts he engages in with Havi. Challenges lay ahead of the two, including bandits, a dragon, and animal spirits.

The sex scenes are hardcore with uncensored scenes so it’s sure to please your Yaoi needs

The story leaves you with a cliffhanger, but hey it’s all good because this is a Yaoi that can be read more than once. Overall this is a great Yaoi for any Yaoi fan.

Black Sun Review

by Zoei on September 22, 2009

Black Sun

Black Sun is a story about military conflict between the Monastic Knights and Middle Eastern soldiers. Prince Leonard de Limbourg for the moment  has been placed in charge of the Gerun Fortress. Him and his army of 200 Monastic Knights are attacked by General Jamal and his 20,000 soldiers. Disaster is ahead for the unfortunate Prince. Prince Leonard decides to sacrifice himself and the fortress to General Jamal in return that his soldiers’ are free. The story goes on to tell of Prince Leonard’s imprisonment with the General Jamal. We see Prince Leonard becomes General Jamal’s sex toy and watch the relationship  develop on an emotional level, rather than a pure sexual one, this in turn causes Leonard to face some complicated decisions.

This Yaoi is filled with numerous scorching sex scenes,  different believable positions, and the men are very attractive. Both Leonard and Jamal are seen as masculine individuals, I think they can both past for a seme but since General Jamal uses Prince Leonard as a sex slave it becomes pretty apparent who the uke is. Uki Ogasawara leaves nothing to the imagination, the drawing is quite explicit.

I hope that 801 continues this story, as it is such a Yaoi delight and plus they left the ending as a cliff hanger.  I can’t find any complaints with Black Sun if you love some hardcore Yaoi than this is a must for you.

Man's Best FriendKazusa Takashima’s art once again shines through with amazing characters that are undeniably cute. If you are looking for something quick and an easy read to boot, Man’s Best Friend: Inu Mo Aruke Ba Fall in Love might be the manga to check out. The six stories within this manga are anywhere from cute to steamy and sexy, which is something any yaoi fan can enjoy.

Man’s Best Friend is about a young boy who decides to bring home a dog. The big surprise about this whole ordeal is that the dog turns into a human when excited. One thing leads to another and they eventually fall in love with each other. Throughout the relationship yaoi antics galore ensue. A good portion of the book is when the person is in dog form. The rest contains short stories that include romance and humor.

The second story within this manga is about two friends that have been separated. When they finally meet up again, ten years later, they realize that they are drawn to one another and decide to see where it will take them.

The third and last story of this one shot manga is about a goldfish. Yes, you read that right, a goldfish. This is a story about another shape shifting pet. It goes on into a yaoi scene in very little time. The whole story is only a couple of pages long, but the point of it, is gotten to very quickly, yet can still be seen as enjoyable.

Kazusa Takashima is a wonderful artist, the art alone may be enough incentive to buy this manga. It makes the story delightful as it unfolds with beautiful artistic drawings that catch the reader’s eye.

Breath Vol 2 Review

by Zoei on September 1, 2009

breath2Some manga may falter or be stuffed with filler in middling volumes, but Breath volume two keeps the series going strong.  If you liked the first volume, this one’s a definite must buy.  The plot and artwork remain consistent with the series style and the ending will have you salivating for volume three.

If you’re buying the American version, unfortunately you’ll have to deal with a little censorship.  A couple pages have been entirely removed and replaced with a here’s what happened that we couldn’t show note at the back of the volume, which makes for an unnecessarily constrained and confusing reading experience.  Setting that aside, however….

Yanagi and Arata’s “why are we being so nice to each other even though we’re in this uncomfortable forced master-slave relationship” tug of war, dominates the beginning, and since that’s pretty much just more of what the prior volume already went through, it’s not hugely exciting, although it does keep a nice layer of doubled motives for both the main characters constantly in the spotlight.  However, when Arata’s twin Ten enters the picture things get stirred up and there’s all that conflict you were craving.  Turns out Ten, in addition to being blessed with the looks of a god and a chipper attitude, is intensely defensive of his brother, wedging himself forcibly between the brother and Yanagi.  All that easygoing attitude Ten displays conceals… well, we’re not sure yet, but there’s something going on with him there and it’s brooding and grim.  We also get an additional tangential plot concerning a new chap from Yanagai’s past who will be introducing further complications to the protagonists’ landscape.  Their private little secret is leaked and while we don’t see the full ramifications of that in this volume, it’s enough to tease you that there’s a storm a ‘brewin’.  From multiple angles, even.

Of course, since this IS yaoi, after all, you probably want to know if the sex scenes are any good.  Fortunately, the uncensored elements (sigh…Wink are just as much fun as the first volume, and we get a little shakeup in the lovemaking roster too, not sticking with just the big two characters.  Some might consider one of them too brief, but the other’s longevity makes up for it.

Breath 2’s sure to satisfy anyone who liked the first one, or any fans of the genre in general who like a little conflict and drama with their hot yaoi spice.
